Rights & reuse.
A scientific idea, a source photograph, a generated scene, and a typeface can have different reuse terms. Check the particular work.
Photographs and medical images
Our image directory identifies each image's source work, creator, license, and recorded changes. The credited creator or rights holder retains their rights. This publication does not place third-party images under a new site-wide license.
Creative Commons photographs remain available under their indicated licenses. If you reuse one, follow the original license, retain the required attribution and notices, link to the license, and identify your changes. ShareAlike requirements apply to adaptations of a ShareAlike work; the presence of that photograph does not by itself license the rest of this website. Displayed framing may differ from the source because of responsive CSS cropping.
Public-domain status is recorded from the source's stated basis and may depend on the jurisdiction. A copyright license or public-domain notice does not establish permission for every use of a person's likeness, a trademark, or an institution's insignia.
Generated scenes and original diagrams
Photorealistic AI-generated scenes are marked as editorial illustrations. They are constructed images, not records of a named patient, a real treatment, or a specific instrument. Copyright protection for generated material depends on applicable law and the human contribution; we make no blanket claim of exclusive copyright over AI-generated material.
Conceptual diagrams simplify scientific principles. Neither a diagram nor a photograph should be interpreted as a measurement or evidence of benefit for an individual patient.
Sources, names, and the historical domain
References are links to third-party publications. Their inclusion does not grant rights to republish those works or imply an endorsement by their authors, publishers, agencies, or institutions. Product and institutional names identify the subject discussed; they do not indicate a commercial relationship.
Today's Physics for Health publication is independently operated. It is not affiliated with the former Plasma Science and Innovation Center, the University of Washington, or the former operators of this domain. Historical address records are newly written context and do not reproduce unavailable original articles.
Typography
This site serves its fonts locally. Space Grotesk and Source Sans 3 are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Their original copyright and license notices are retained: Space Grotesk license and Source Sans 3 license.
Check the source before reusing a work
The source and license links in the credits describe the recorded terms. They are not a warranty that every possible use is cleared. Additional permissions may be needed for identifiable people, trademarks, or a use that implies endorsement.
